Wiring a 3 light pendant light

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.48 PM

Sorry if this has been covered before but I can't find anywhere to explain it. I have a 3 light pendant light. Each of the three lights has its own wire coming from it that is split into neutral and live. Ie I have three separate wires, one from each light. On the ceiling I have left over from the previous light three connecters: live, neutral and ground. Can I put all three live ends into the live connector and screw them in together, and all three neutrals into the neutral. In which case this would leave nothing for my ground to connect to..? Thank you for any advice.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Firstly you need to terminate the earths you have into a connector block or wago connector. If the fitting you have has a symbol of a box within a box, this means that it is double insulated and does not need connecting to earth. If it does not have this symbol or it is metallic you will need to connect an earth cable to the fitting, and then to the earth in the ceiling. Any decent electrician will be able to do this for you and ensure that it is safe.

Call an electrician and get it done right It’s not good to give advice - best to leave it to the professionals and pay the rate

Although I agree with JMA elec. it is always best to use a qualified electrician Where possible as others have commented Remember to always isolate the supply before carrying out any electrical works Micky P
