Installing a gas stove when the chimney breast has been taken out downstairs
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.31 PM
Hi, I have recently moved into my house and the chimney breast downstairs has been taken out. Before moving in I got a structural engineer to check and it's all ok but I really want to install a gas fire and now don't know the best way to do it. The chimney breast is still upstairs, just not downstairs so I'm not sure if the best way is to get a builder to rebuild the chimney breast downstairs? Or I have been reading about a twin wall flue, would that be something that could go up through the existing chimney Bresst upstairs and out through the roof? The fire would not be on an exterior wall. Do you have any advice on which would be best and cheapest option? Thank you
