Idiotically, I have bought an Ikea light which needs a C-hook fixed into the ceiling to support itself when suspended. I can work out where all the wires need to go, but I've seen plenty of people online struggle with which C-hook to buy as larger ones prevent the light from sitting flush to the ceiling. What sort of thing do I need, and how do I install it?
It depends on the weight of the fitting

IKEA do sell the hooks, assuming this is not a extremely heavy light you would be looking at getting a suitable sized hook that can be covered by the cup that slides up to ceiling on the light. A lot of these lights annoyingly dont come with them, everytime I am at IKEA I purchase a few hooks:) Most important thing with installing them is getting a good fixing try and find the joist as the bracket only has 2 screws on it. Hope this helps Ricky Mockford Lancing Electrical Services

The weight plays a big part in which type to use? But a light suspension plate hook will give a better chance to get fitting close to ceiling and will generally take up to 2.5kg in fitting weight
