Which paint is best for wooden (plywood?? I think) soffit where the paint is peeling?

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.55 PM

The soffits on my house have peeling paint and bare wood - I think it is plywood but not sure. what sort of paint should I use to try to protect the wood? The fascia and guttering is plastic. Any advice would be gratefully received!

Hi. First of all I would clean your plastic guttering and fascia before painting the soffit. Just some simple sugar soap and water. Prepare the soffit by scraping, filling and sanding if needed. I would use a good quality oil based exterior undercoat followed by a good quality oil based exterior topcoat. The job will take longer using oil based products but will leave you with a better finished job. Hope this helps.
