Bathroom Fitting

Fitting shower tray

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.08 PM

Trying to fit a shower tray but where the old tray was there is a slight recess into the plaster about 2.5cm. Best to seat the new tray back into the recess or build it out? Having shower wall panels fitted on top of the tray.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

As long as your wall panels will sit directly on top of the shower tray sides. Where you will be able to create a silicone bead along the edges

Just make sure your enclosure screen will still fit when the tray sits slightly into the wall. Sitting a quadrant tray 25mm into the wall could make your life very difficult when it comes to fitting the screen.

Measure the height the right way and order the right size to fit as other wise you’ll waste the money by trying to fit the bigger size

...You will need to consult fitting instructions on shower enclosure to see if that would potentially interfere with it’s seating on the shower tray. Also, might look odd aesthetically if you take a large portion of one edge of shower tray up with sub-wall and tiles (or chosen finish). Advise client on potential difference in measurement on edges of shower tray before making a decision!
