Straight crack in floor grout next to doorway

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.28 PM

I had my bathroom tiled one year ago. A thin straight crack appeared overnight in the grout between floor tiles, but only next to the doorway. Any ideas why this happened? Also, what would be the most cost effective way to fix it? Some photos of the issue: https://photos.app.goo.gl/Jn9kLnHyDwQKEHiu6 https://photos.app.goo.gl/cSwwkDUjm8e9erdCA

Hi, it’s a simple job you could probably complete your self with a little grout filler, just fill in the cracks, let it dry and clean any excess around the area. Maybe the level of the floor changed slightly as it exits the bathroom or It may of been caused by a little bang on the floor?

There could be a number of reasons, one possibility is it's just down to movement , houses move over time causing minor cracks in walls ,ceiling, tiles etc , we don't notice but there are small earth tremors all the time , I would just try grinding out the old cracked & re fill

Seems like it ain’t stuck properly or sub base ie floor is moving cut out check sub base if needed put some screws in to tighten floor and then use flexible adhesive to fix it’s all I can say without taking tile up myself

THIS SOUNDS LIKE THERE IS SOME MOVEMENT UNDER THE TILES.IF THE JOINT IS WIDE ENOUGH COUPLE OF SCREWS THROUGH THE JOINT TO TIGHTEN FLOOR UNDERNEATH. CHECK YOU HAVE NO PIPES UNDER FLOOR BASE BEFORE YOU SCREW DOWN AND REGROUT
