Creaky / squeaky floorboards upstairs in all way & 2 bedrooms.

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.28 PM

Hi, The upstairs hallway/landing, box bedroom and small double in my house have extremely noisy floorboards, that so it wakes our newborn baby up, does anyone have any idea whom I would get out to lift the carpets and fix the issue while relaying the carpets without any damage? Juts want an idea of whom I would ask and type of cost? Landing upstairs is around 3 metres, then a small double and small box room, thanks.

Good afternoon it could be a range of issues from wet floorboards to just needs nailing Down some more or putting some ply board over the boards, cost wise would always depend on the issue.

It may be worth popping the floorboards up and checking that the pipework is low enough to clear and not touch the floorboards as when the central heating comes on it can cause creaking and noises that being said if that's not the issue it may just need screwing down in several places making sure to only catch the joists

You will need a joiner to sort out your floorboards and a carpet fitter to re fit your carpet..... make sure that you lift several boards 1st to make sure there are no cables or pipes running across the top of the joists before they get screwed back down... hope this helps

Is it definitely floorboards under the carpet or could it be T&G Chipboard? sorting out floorboards may not be too costly where as the T&G could present a number of problems. Either way you will need both a professional chippy and carpet fitter to sort out the issue
