Adjustment to wooden play tower

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.28 PM

Hi, my friend has a wooden play system she has offered to me. These are usually very expensive so would like to have it. However it very large and I cannot fit it in my garden comfortably. I've added in a link to the manuel, it is the Kingswood Play System F23310, easily found on google. Is it possible to adjust it so we only have the tower and the slide, not the extended swing frame? I was thinking the end triangle part of the swing frame could be fitted to the tower iff it needed to be stabilised? https://www.selwood.com/manuals/kingswood-11-29-12.pdf Thanks Rachel

There are many answers to this question, the question should be which more suits you, you could have a base set out and have post anchors set in, either the spikes which get concreted below ground just leaving the square tube for the posts above ground, you can purchase these in any builders merchant or on-line, find the dimensions of the vertical posts and buy the right size 75mm/3" 0r 100mm/4" ( 2 types https://www.toolstation.com/easygrip-post-shoe/p94879?store=E8&utm_source=googleshopping&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=googleshoppingfeed&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI8pbdsbyQ6AIVzLHtCh3NYwqJEAQYBSABEgIHbPD_BwE https://www.toolstation.com/drive-in-post-anchor/p45443?store=O3&utm_source=googleshopping&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=googleshoppingfeed&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIkrn85byQ6AIVmpntCh3xKwFHEAQYAyABEgJ87_D_BwE etc. or there are other anchor types you just need to research whats available and the prep needed for them, also your idea of using the extra bracing is a good idea and can be done in several way at several locations, maybe additional angular bracings where main pressure will be , if for instance the ladder, you would brace adjoining not opposite and start at far bottom corner with the high end toward ladder to gain maximum strength. sorry theres a million answers for this one, good luck.

Hi Rachel Yes it is usually possible to install only certain elements or even to split into two or three separate parts with reinforcements where appropriate. For example I've fitted these for schools where the space available meant we had to separate the swings from the rest. Just be sure to get sound advice about the reinforcements necessary to keep it safe. Sary

Hi Rachel If the swing is to be completely uninstalled you don't need to move the end tringle part of the swing frame to the tower that support the swing and not the tower which holds other end of the swing so must be strong without any extras when is no more the swing.thanks

Having looked at the assembly instructions, it indicates that the swing section is added after the main section is assembled, it doesn’t form any structural advantage, so this part can be omitted from the structure, however it might help in the stability of the whole structure. Hope that helps.
