Electric Underfloor Heating Matts

Hi, Not sure if this in the right category but hopefully someone can help me. I am installing some vinyl click flooring in my hallway, I am wanting to put some electric underfloor heating matts underneath however from doing a little research id have to put a self leveling subfloor over the mats. I have seen an alternative which its a dual overlay system, but this is quite expensive. From what I can see all it is are two layers of 4mm mdf glued together. M question is can I just buy some mdf from the timber merchants and use that the same as this will cut the cost from around 150 quid down to 20 quid? has anyone had any experience fitting these dual overlay subfloors? I would not use mdf on the floor.i would follow the recommending guidelines on the heat mat. Failing to adhere to the instructions will void any guarantees.

If its only a few sqm then a self leveling compound will be the best. The heat will soften the joints of the vinyl click and may cause them to seperate when walked on. Only fit as per manufacturer guidelines for flooring and the heat mat.

Electric UFH must be embedded in cement based material ie tile adhesive or self leveling compound. Good practice is to have insulation boards under that reflect heat upwards. Exception is foil mat for wood floors and some laminates as instructed. Warranty is only 15 years vs lifetime. There is right way and there is a waste of money
