Concrete Fence Post with Rain water Pipe
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.48 PM
I have a 9’ Concrete fence post to install but as I’ve dug out the old wooden post and old concrete I’ve noticed a plastic rain water pipe leading from neighbour garden into my garden via the drains the pipe is roughly 24” in depth in the hole but I wanted to dig the hole to 36”, what is my best options, can I concrete around the orange ish pipe and just cut the post to fit ?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Cut the post down as 24” deep is plenty. Don’t concrete around the water pipe if any repairs are needed in the future it will be a lot hard to repair with concrete all around it thanks tom

I would install a thicker pipe around the drainage pipe (this is called split ducking) before continuing with the works. I would dig a bit either way so that the pipe is covered for a little distance for future repairs. After completing this work I would cut down the post to the correct depth and then concrete the post in.
