Buried in pipes/electrics plasterer not dried out?
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.47 PM
Hi, just wondering if anyone can help, I have had copper pipes and electrical cables buried in the walls and there's a constant damp area around them where they have been buried and plastered over like the plasterer hasn't dried out and it's been around 4 months now. The heating has been on the house is warm and we've never had any problems with damp or water coming in. Is there a method for burying pipes/electrics that maybe wasn't followed? Really appreciate any help thank you.

Pipes buried into walls should be isolated using proper insulation.
Electric cable should be covered with proper metal strip as per regulation.
Cold water pipe use to sweat because of the temperature and this could be the problem because you have the plaster wet.
Unless you have a leak in one of the pipe, but if this was the case probably your plaster will be already off of the wall.

Hi ,sounds like you have a leak coming from somewhere.
its either from the exsternal wall.
Or from one of the pipes thats been buried.
Hopes this helps

Maybe they have made a mistake when the pipes were fitted.

Id say most of the above is possible, but also if they are buried in a eternal wall and the plasteter used thisle bonding first before skiming then bonding never really drys out.especially if there downstairs and below a meter from the floor.

Hi,it sounds to me like you may have a very slight split or maybe a nail in your pipes.what you need to do is look where the damp area is,is it in isolated area or is everywhere the pipes go.if isolated area most likely there’s a very small leak in the pipe where the damp patch is.
