New roof tiles scuffed, will it fade?

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.54 PM

I have just had a new roof put on my new extension and ive noticed the tiles are pretty badly scuffed. Ive spoken to the builders and they said it will fade in a few months, is that correct? If they dont fade is painting them an option?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

No they won’t fade they should be replaced by your builder you have not paid good money to have scuffed/scratched tiles nor should you have to paint them either any decent company would come out and replace them they only cost between £1.50/£3 a tiles

They will fade after a good shower It is impossible to do a roof without scuffing the tiles as they rub together when being moved about

They will fade and wash off with rain, unless the scuffs are from grinder blade slips and see deep past the tiles coloured coating then you need to replace them. Wait for rain full to happen if once dried out you can still see the scuffs they should replace the tiles effected but I cant imagine the scuffs being that bad that rain full won’t sort it out keeping in mind you can mark a tile with a nail and rain full will wash off the mark left by the nail. Hi no they won’t fade if they are deep scuffs you would get the odd tile scratched as they are carried up the ladder but you can wait till we have more rain and see but you will see the scuffs once the have dried again I think so they would need replacing in my opinion

Its a result of the tile coating being removed during the packaging and transportation, it will take a long time to fade if at all, it will not affect the weathering of the tile, we have had this problem many times mainly when using concrete plain sand faced tiles.
