Hot taps in kitchen and utility room not triggering the Combi boiler
Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.54 PM
Kitchen and utility room mixer taps have stopped triggering the boiler when hot taps turned on. Shower upstairs ( also mixer ) works for a while on hot but soon goes cold. Boiler has been checked by home services but they say it’s not a boiler issue. I’m not convinced!! The heating is working fine and radiators get hot as they should. This is happening on all the hot taps. They get hot but go cold after a short time. Taps further away from boiler not triggering it to fire up?

if problem is in one tap then that could be a issue, but if it happen in other places like shower mixer or basin tap means problem is in hot water distribution which is boiler, low water pressure may not turn boiler on or heat exchange in boiler not working properly

Could well be a problem with the in-coming water supply ! Sounds like there could be small amounts of trapped muck up to mains water tap !, therefore requiring re-placement of stop cock

The problem could be the heat exchanger in the boiler . But it’s possible that 1 of the mixer taps is allowing the cold through which is usually at a higher pressure and can overpower the hot.

Hi.
Is the boiler a Potterton performa? If so they have a very common issue with diaphragm switch. Could be that?

Could be she flow switch , temperature sensor or blocked plate heat exchanger
