Fuse box blown after trying to fit a new filter in my fish tank

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.54 PM

l've tried to fit a new filter to my fish tank today but it's blown all my sockets. l've tried to reset the fuse box but the switch won't stay up. Any advise on what l can do please??

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hopefully not stating the obvious but ensure you unplug any new equipment before trying to reset the circuit breaker. If the circuit breaker resets ok then you have purchased faulty equipment. If it won't reset even with everything unplugged then I'd recommend you get in an electrician.

As above, you say blown the sockets, you don't say whether it is an RCD, RCBO or MCB that has tripped (RCD's and RCBO'S have a small "test" button), if you can't re-set after unplugging everything, an electrician should be able to find the fault quickly, if you can re-set, plug everything back in but leave out your filter, if it stays on, your new filter is probably faulty
