Water patches on corner of sliding doors

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.08 PM

Hi all, I have sliding doors installed in the living room of my house. After the recent weather of heavy rainfall I have found water patches in the corner of the wall and running down to the side of the sliding door. Initially both sides of the walls on the sliding doors were wet however the problem is now only on one side of the wall. On the outside on either side of the sliding doors is render which lies on top of the brickwork. On top of the sliding doors and is cladding. Anyone have any advice of where the water is coming? Appreciate any advice many thanks in advance.

Do a visual check on the silicone seal around the door to see if there are any cracks and also above and around the door on the render and cladding to see if rain water could penetrate through this is assuming the water is coming from the top of the door

Hi The problem may only be due to the harshness of the weather we are having recently as in heavy amounts constantly hitting it Or the render may only be thin coated and water has got behind and leaked in Again the prob could be higher up with a cracked brick or poorly rendered area Also look at sealant make sure no cracks or splits

Hello Until seeing issues it’s hard to say but with the experience I have and issues I have seen on many work this sound like back tracking water with it penetrating through the drainage loads of fitters don’t seal the up stand of a cill and down the sides witch can Cause dampness in corners or if there’s enough rain even puddles hope this helps Kind regards GBS

Without seeing it visually. The possible solution could be to re silicon the external plaster work/brick work which is porous to elimate the protential problem. Also protentially apply water sealant to brick and plaster work. The reason that one side of the door has dried up is most likely due to the wind direction as this can happen.

I had a similar problem which was happening due to water getting between some broken roof tiles and running down the cavity wall. It hit the top of the window from the inside and dispersed damp patches around the window. Maybe check the roof tiles and gable wall isn’t exposed.

Hi, it is difficult to say what the cause may be without coming out and looking at this. It could potentially be a seal for example. Regards
