Plastering & Rendering

Filling big holes in interior walls before plastering

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.08 PM

I have created a walk in wardrobe but where I have created a doorway frame with wood, there are quite large holes to be filled before it can be fully plastered. What is the best material to use and method to get the final 'shape' around the frame so a plasterer can then finalise?

This would depend on what where the holes are. If the backing of the wall is brick or blockworks bonding coat is your best bet. this can then be skimmed with multi finish. If it is a stud wall you are best to cut back to existing timber supports and then adding a new piece of plasterboard and reskimming.
