Can you plasterboard over old wallpaper?

Once paper is wet it softens an peels. So needs taking off before anything goes onto it .

U can if you put timber batons on the wall first fixed with screws into the masonry then screw the boards to the batons. But if u wanted to stick them on then no as the paper will get wet with the adhesive and probably peel away then boards will fall off. So the honest answer is no and there's a lot less work stripping the wallpaper off than if u was to put batons on the wall. Hope this helps

Always best to just remove wallpaper no matter what. You could get away with leaving the wallpaper and over-boarding if it is a stud wall? Or over baton & board, But consider the skirting and coving if any. Hope that helps. Reddo Plastering.

Providing the plasterboard will not obstruct things like door opening etc, I see no reason why you shouldn't plasterboard over existing plasterboard, the cost of new plasterboard will probably outweigh the labour cost of removing the wall paper. If you decide to go ahead with this I recommend that you locate all of the stud partitions and mark their locations. Take into consideration that electrical and plumbing (radiators etc) will have to be adjusted to marry the new plaster board. Also depending on your needs, new skirting boards should be considered.

Peeling of wallpaper will be more cost effective solution, steamer will make this task easier. But if you prefer then yes, plaster boards can be installed on top of existing walls but with correct profile installation, definitely not by using adhesive.
