External oil combi boiler

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.07 PM

We are trying to get an external oil combi boiler fitted, approx 5m away from the house and have found some pre-insulated four core heating water pipe to do this but they only sell in a minimum of 10m lengths and is very expensive. I wonder if anyone knows of any other pipe which could be used which is cheaper or anywhere that sells the pipe in less than 10m lengths. The pipe I have found is Microflex and Uponor.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi there Underground pre insulated is very expensive but so diverse in its heat loss. The cheaper end of the market thus highest heat loss would be Flexalen Fife Scotland The more premium brands would be calpex or Rehau, they have two options Rauthermex or Rauvitherm , the first one being Phenolic foam this fairly expensive. Depending on size of boiler you’ll need 20-32mm pipe for reference. Of course this is based on a heating only boiler, if a combi there would need to be pipes for this also. Combi you can run an mdpe water pipe for saving money You’ll need 25mm duct for the cable also. George

I would always recommend installing the boiler next to an external wall and keeping external pipework to an absolute minimum. Only install the boiler 5m away from the house if there is no other viable site. Ultimately you will lose heat no matter how well insulated your pipes are.
