Ideal boiler - sealed system. Not igniting error code LF

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.07 PM

Moved house last year and inherited Ideal boiler. It’s been absolutely fine until a couple of days ago when an LF error code displayed. I tried basic maintenance, bleeding radiators, adding water via the external filling loop to increase pressure from 0.2 to 1.3bar. Tried resetting boiler. Still no joy and been without heating for a couple of day’s. What does LF mean and is it an easy fix?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi LF is related with gas! So could be gas valve, pcb, broken leads and maybe condensing syphon.Investogation on site needed!

It's an ignition fault but to identify what the exact cause is. You would need someone out. With ideal boilers it is 90% going to be one of 4 things •electrodes require cleaning/replacing •faulty spark generator •blocked condense either pipework or trap •PCB fault

Hi I agree with the above answers. If you have gas at other appliances than you need a gas safe engineer to come an investigate it further. Hope this helps.

LF is an ignition fault code. Meaning one of two things. Poor gas supply or flame loss. I have been called to three boilers in the past two weeks as the wind has been so strong it’s blown back down the flue and stopped the boiler from igniting. Check that any other gas appliances have gas coming out. If so the boiler may need looking at. Hope this helps.
