Paint for inside face of exterior cottage walls?
Anonymous user 13/03/2024 - 2.30 PM
I've got an old (300yr) cottage, and the external walls are of 2ft thick solid stone construction. The paint on the inside face of these walls is blistering, particularly in the kitchen (painted in F&B by previous occupant). My question - should I just strip the paint back to the plaster, then mist coat, and then paint with a 'paint for newly plastered' type of paint - will that allow the walls to breathe sufficiently? I see they must've painted all the inside faces before sale with the same paint, as it's happening in most of the rooms with external walls!

it is probably best to paint with a lime paint to allow the wall to breath
