Boiler space for service

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.27 PM

Hi, we are in process to put vaillant system boiler. We have builder who is suggesting to put in kitchen and we have bounglow and wants to put boiler with megaflow in attic. There is enough space for boiler and also for all pipes to run but builder is saying if we do not have clear space of 600mm then vaillant will not honour warranty. As it is being loft we cannot standup and repair but there is enough space for boiler and repair if needed. Does anyone guide us if it is best to put in attic or not and also does my builder correct in saying vaillant will not honor warranty.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

It needs to have lighting and boarded out all the way to boiler from loft ladder , and needs to have a proper pull down loft ladder , it is also supposed to have a hand rail to the boiler but I don’t think any engineer will knock it back for no hand rail , when I was doing vailliant in warranty work for npower I wouldn’t have passed the job back for that

Good afternoon, Your builder is correct. If you want to put the boiler in the loft then there must be fulla ccess, with a boarded floor, appropriate light, a fixed ladder and a banister around the trap door to prevent anyone falling back through the open hole. This is all to do with building regulations. If Vaillant come to service or repair the bolier and the above are not inplace then the engineer wont put his or herself at risk, and so warranty will be void. Best regards, Ian B

Always follow manufacturers specification, any deviation will result in loss of warranty, best advice is to contact them direct
