Gas Works

is my gas pie safe near my wood burning stove?

Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 2.47 PM

gas pipe is seperated from a wood burning stove by 10 inches of wall that has a cavity in it(two bricks with a gap) its an old brick fire place which i have re pointed and filled some of the cavity with rubble and mortar. the gas pipe is contained in a false wall on the outside of the chimney but there is a hole where there used to be pipes for the old gas fire. i put cut pieces of old render up aginst the main gas pipe then back filled it with mortar across the cavity then put another brick. will that corrode the pipe and is it safe to put a heat source i.e. a wood burning stove inside the fireplace that close to the gas pipe?
