German product to repair cracked internal walls

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.47 PM

Hi all, I need some advice. I'm about to hire a builder to modernize my flat. There a fair bit of cracks on a couple of walls. Nothing structural just your run of the mill period property issue. Most of the builders told me that they will rack out all cracks apply mesh
and than skim. One builder tells me that he won't skim all the walls. Instead use a German product and will apply it on these troubled walls and sand down and make good these walls. I kept asking him what is this "magic" product..He doesn't want to tell me...Instead he kept saying you can't find it here? Does anyone know what is this product...Or he just telling me the fibs.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Knauf powdered filler works really well if you tape it first. It’s readily available in your local wickes

Not. Right answer. Because backing coat might be shot so need to repair. So filling in with German product no good at all maybe as a fine fill but not overall answer

I would always go with raking out the cracks and mesh the area to best prevent the crack from ever reappearing.
