Chimney removed, can you install woodburner?

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.47 PM

The loft conversion removed the chimney. Is a wood burner easy to install on the other side of the wall? There's a house I'm interested in and they converted the attic and owners have said that for safety and support the chimney is gone. The sofas are running along the wall where the chimney wouldve been. Therefore it would have to go where wall runs opposite to the stairs leading upstairs. If the answer is yes, a woodburner can be installed, is this a big job? Can you have your TV on the wall above it due to layout of living room?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Yes you can have a twin wall s/s flue installed but please make sure it's a hetas engineer with the correct certificates ( me ,nds woodburning stoves and fireplace ,over 25 years in the trade ). The size of the job would need to be accessed ( size of flue ect ,building work ect ) ,and yes if fitted correctly a t v can be installed on a wall above ,many thanks Neil ,nds woodburning stoves and fireplaces .

Hi. If the wall you wish to place the burner against is an outside wall then a flue can be run through and up outside. Be aware there are many regs. for placement of wood stoves. I would recommend getting your local supplier/installer round to chat through what can and cant be done within the regs. Re the TV.... I personally would not place one over any heat source. Hope this helps you. Iain

Yes you can still have a log burner. You will need twin walled flue which runs outside your property instead of up the chimney
