One side of double plug socket not working

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.29 PM

I've got a double plug socket in the kitchen that one side has just stopped working. Having done a little online search it looks like I need a new socket. I want to know if it is dangerous to not change it for a while as the socket is grouted in. I dont want to retile the kitchen just yet!

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

If the socket is not working corretly then its potentually dangerious and should be checked out without delay. I know it can be a pain when sockets have been grouted in, they shouldn't be. I've used a multi tool to cut the grout around sockets, which to my suprise didn't need to be regrouted.

I sounds like you have a faulty socket and yes the best thing is to change it

It would be safe to leave it until you are ready to grout. For 50p you can buy a plastic 3 pin cover to go in there so that other people do not try and use the socket. Just my two-pence.

This definitely sounds like a faulty socket, best to change it asap. And just regrout around the socket rather than change the tiles
