Low hot water pressure in shower
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.29 PM
recently bought house Its got a back boiler and hot water tank. i've put new taps on bath with an attached shower, you pull up a plunger on the taps for the shower to work. the cold comes through fine but when turn hot on the plunger drops back down, I think because not enough pressure from the hot water tank. what is the best/cheapest solution. if its going to cost a lot would I be better spending money and put in a combi boiler

unequal pressures, you can put a pump on hot service, pressure equalising valve fitted to hot and cold services to bath, combi or unvented cylinder as long as main can provide adequate pressure and volume for your needs.

Hi lorraine. You fitted the tap!... where as a plumber may have forewarned you about the pressure issues with bath shower mixers and tank fed hot water especially if a low head of water.
No need for a combi... Best long term idea would be to have a 8kw electric shower mains fed... loads of hot water at a constant pressure and temperature... allegedly.
Good luck, Bob.

yes definitely if you can afford it have a combi fitted it sounds like if you have a water tank then you will be on a gravity fed system which is giving you minimum pressure

If the the plunger is dropping when hot water is run then there is not enough head of water, without looking at the job difficult to say but installing a combi will rectify the problem.
