Change gas hob to an electric one

Can I just plug the new electric hob into the same socket that the gas job plunged into it does have its own feed

This would depend on the power consumption of the hob, as a general rule anything over 2Kw should be on its own circuit but read the manufacturers instructions and have a look at how much power is already being drawn on the circuit as these will both have an effect on what needs to be done.

As mentioned by a previous tradesmen, no most likely not, a gas hob can plug in as it only needs electricity to work the ignition ( the clicking part ) An electric hob draws a loads more current, and will need its own 6 or 10mm supply. Depending on wether it’s an induction one or not. If you distribution board is miles away may be a disaster job !

Most likely not, a gas hob can plug in as it only needs electricity to spark the igniter. An electric hob draws a lot more current, and will need its own 6 or 10mm supply.

Hi, You can Purchase a 13A Induction Hob with a Moulded Plug fitted so Yes you can use a socket outlet for a hob but only if designed that way. I hope this helps. Best Regards JS Electrical
