System pressure on betacom4 24kw boiler?

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.54 PM

Anyone help? Boiler fitted 5 months ago. I have had a gloworm engineer out to check out boiler,he pumped up expansion vessel and said that it should be fine now but it is going up to 2.6 when running at full capacity from 1 bar when cold.l have spoken to the engineer on the phone and he said this is normal for this size boiler running a system with 7 radiators and is nothing to worry about . Am I right to still have concerns ? Should I get them back to check out again. Any advice appreciated. Thanks Rootosh

No the engineer is correct as all boilers when firing the pressure increases.

Closed system will generally increase in pressure between 1-1.5 Bar when running for a while. Surprised the expansion vessel has required pumping after 5 months. Guess it wasn't charged correctly on installation.

No, pumping up the pressure vessel was the correct thing to do, but in normal operation the pressure should steadily increase, approx 1/2 barr. To go from 1barr to 2.6, its sounds like he has pushed debri into the expansion vessel connection pipe, and blocked it. If not this, then there is another underlying problem. 7 radiators is not excessive for this boiler, and would not cause pressure rise as you describe. Get someone else to look at it, before it damages your boiler.
