Plug socket on chimney breast

Is it possible to have a plug socket on a chimney breast above a gas fire? I'm thinking of wall mounting my TV on the chimney breast and don't really want cables showing. Can this be done? This would be Inna solid wall and not plaster board

I wouldn't advise installing a socket above a gas fire due to the heat which can cause issues with the socket. Additionally it would also cause a problem with the TV intended for installation in this spot.

A socket should not be directly above any heat source as the heat can cause issues. Why not channel out a run for the cables and had a brush plate at the rear of your TV so that you can feed the wires through that you need?

It all depends on its surroundings. It must be installed giving regard to external influences. In this case heat.
If you have a mantlepiece this helps a lot. So I would say it sounds ok.
