What would be the best way round woodchip can we plaster over the top of it or is best for it to be removed and then get all the walls skimmed? Thanks.

The woodchip paper needs removing, best method I found was to give the paper a light scrape taking off the woodchip effect and exposing the back, then either paint on or spray with warm water and leave for the water to soak in, after some time (depending on layers of paint) the water will get behind the paper makeing removal much easier.

100% remove all of the woodchip before plastering. If you plaster over it the water/moisture from the plaster will activate the paste under the paper and it will start to bubble and fall off. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise, even scoring the paper won't help with adhesion.

Hello, definitely remove as this is stuck to the wall so when plastering it could come unstuck or worse still at a later date loss it’s suction and then it will all have to be done again.

No question, remove before any plaster is applied.

Depends on how much you want to spend, plastering is going to cost more than removing the paper but is a quicker option. Have you tried using a steam stripper to see how easily the paper comes off in the first instance ?

You would 100% have to remove the wood chip wall paper and any other wall paper.then once the paper is removed and it’s back to the old wall it can then be plastered.even if the walls are sound it’ll be worth getting them plastered because.....in all my years I’ve never seen any wall paper come off and the existing wall good enough and be ready to paint

Yes you need to remove the wood chip paper. Use a steamer to remove. You may find that the surface under the paper is of a good enough condition to just decorate over, after the removal, but will need to be assessed once the wood chip has been removed

You need to scrape it all off then skim walls. If ceiling has it you could board it

It is the best way first to remove the wallpaper and then to skim the wall

you would need to remover the woodchip paper as you can skim on top of wall paper, in the past I have used concentrated wall paper stripper that sometimes makes it easier to remove the wall paper

I would recommend that you remove the woodchip before you plaster the walls
