Damp Proofing

Is it normal procedure to fill outside drilled holes with sand af end of job?

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 2.50 PM

Hi, I have recently had a damp proof course done af my home. The guys that did it have filled the outside holes that were drilled with what looks like sand. I only noticed this when I brushed my finger over the area & the substance just came away. I am concerned that when it rains this will all just wash away exposing the holes. Can filling the holes with a sand like substance be a temporary measure & do they return to fill with cement or something more permanent at a later date?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

The holes should be sealed up with plastic plugs or a sand and cement mix filling in order that rain water cannot penetrate through them. DSK UK

Hi Kath, as I believe Dean Webster CSRT suggested we would ask the contractors to return and carry out the works as per DSK UK suggested - to seal with a sand and cement mix - It may be likley the mix they used (if any) was too much sand and has broken away. Hope you get it fixed soon - Annabelle
