My thermostat never reads less than 30 degrees, has this been installed incorrectly?

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.07 PM

I have had electric underfloor heating installed under my tiled floor, the fused switch and thermostat (aube th232) have been installed outside of the bathroom. I have set the programme as per the instructions. 28 degrees for comfort mode and 20 degrees for economy mode. However, I have noticed that no matter what time of day it is, the thermostat always reads 30-34 degrees C and the floor is fairly hot. I have even used the power button on the thermostat (holiday mode) to turn it off and the thermostat still reads 30-34 degrees and the floor is still hot. Are you able to work out if the thermostat hasn't been wired in properly? At the minute the only control over the heating I have is through the fused switch - which means I have no control over the temperature. I have read and re read the instructions for the thermostat and am pretty sure I've set it correctly. Any ideas?

Sounds like incorrectly connected or it's faulty.

Sounds like wires are constantly connected without even using control of thermostat. Probably wasn't wired correctly or faulty thermostat (happened to me with one of the cheap ones)

Was it wired by a competent electrician to begin with maybe they can help . Some heaters will never reach all temperatures due to external influences

the thermostat should have been installed in the bathroom, as this is the room in which it is controlling. as for reading 30 degrees, it is either reading the ambient temperature of the house, which if you have at 30 degrees, your heating bill must be astronomical! or it is faulty, I would get it seen to!
