megaflow cl145he cylinder / Nest and hot water issues

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.06 PM

So from my last question I was having issues where my Nest would not switch on my hot water when the signal is sent. So I recently got my 2 port value switched replaced and at the time of testing it worked. The plumber diagnosed the system and by luck pushed the red reset button on the cylinder (thermal cutout reset switch) it all started working So as the 2 port value was functioning, a week later the hot water was not coming on. I sent a signal to my nest to switch on the hot water and pushed the reset switch and it started working. Just to add another plumber previously investigated the issue and diagnosed as the fault was the thermostat rad and got it replaced and it worked. So both parts now replaced what else could be cutting out the 2 port value?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

the bottom of the cylinder is full of limescale covering the thermistat which will stop it knowing when the cylinder is satisfied so will keep heating water causing the thermal cut to shut down the heat source

Thermal cut out probably wired back to front. Possibly build up with scale, although your cylinder seems relatively new, building a base of that much scale would take around 7-10 years or so. Intermittent time clock is another possibility, however having three or so visits with work not lasting at least 6 months is troubling. Hope your not paying every visit.

There is clearly an issue with your cylinder overheating. (IMPORTANT) You need to get a G3 qualified plumber to look at this. One thing you can check is, is there any water passing through the tundish?
