Let's make it simple:
2 m3 = 2 000 000cm = 200cm x 100cm x 100cm
Your timber is:
50mm x 100mm
In cm is
5cm x 10cm and you have to make it in cubic so:
5cm x 10cm x 100cm = 5 000cm
And now divide 2m3/timber to get how many meters of wood gonna be:
2 000 000cm / 5 000cm = 400
400 is your base and now you have to divide it by your chosen length if you want to know how many pieces of wood need to buy
400 / 2.4m = 167pcs
400 / 3m = 134pcs
400 / 3.6m = 111,1pcs
etc.....

Depending on what you are measuring, skirting is measured by lineal metre, which is just measuring the length.
If you are working out to board a wall it’s done in metre square by multiplying the width by height
