Hot patch on internal wall

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.47 PM

On an internal wall in my new build home (now 4 years old) there is a hot area measuring about 2 square feet, a third of the wall up. Its between a radiator and a double electrical socket in a bedroom on the first floor. Up until now it's just been a spare room but we now want to use the bedroom for our 2 year old but I'm concerned that it's very near electrics and so could it be a hazard? It's been there for a while and only appears when the heating or hot water is used. Just to point out that we have a room above this bedroom also. Do I need to get it checked out? Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi there. As it is a new build I would think it’s the pipework in the wall channel. the pipework might be in contact with the wall transferring the heat to it. It’s annoying but nothing major to worry about as long as it’s not leaking. You could always ask an engineer to come and sort it out. Hope this helps

Sounds like it’s just your central heating pipes I assume on a new build it will be in plastic and dry walled over as long as there’s no water you should be fine.

Could be heating and or hot and cold pipes running in paramount wall most likely being plastic so should not be an issue with electrics

I agree with the previous answer given in that the heat transfer is likely to be from a pipe sitting against the inside of the wall. However, for piece of mind I would recommend having some damp meter readings taken on the wall to make sure there is no leak. Especially as there are electrics in the vacinity.
