Big red cylinder under the boiler
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.47 PM
I have just noticed that on the floor below the big red cylinder underneath my boiler there is an area of what looks like white dust. When looking at the cylinder there is what looks like white/brown solidified powder coming up from the join around the middle of the cylinder. The central heating is working ok. Is this anything to worry about?

You've probably had a leak there at some point. The white powder is just the remains of salts/chemicals left over from when the leaked water evaporated. Unless your system is loosing pressure, I wouldn't worry.

The red cylinder is a expansion vessel, it obviously been leaking, I would keep an eye on it and check when heating is off
