Kitchen Fitting

Is it rude to ask someone to finish a job?

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.39 PM

Ive bought my kitchen from Ikea, and Ive built it all and fit it into place. (I had to, as I wasnt sure what was going to fit, and to be honest, anyone else doing it, was far too pricey - B&Q, Wickes, even Howdens (who knew they were so sales orientated! My bad!) As expected there was a bit of messing about to do - fitting stuff in - and I was pleased Ikea gave me the flexibilty I needed. So know I know where I'm up to, I'd like to get a professional in, to check everything, finish worktops, handles, plinths, levelling, that sort of thing... is a bad thing? Would a tradesmen be unhappy to do this? How much should I expect to pay? **update** thanks for taking the time to answer, guys! The carcasses are all fitted in situ, levelled and fitted together. I don't have the tools to finish the fascia work and worktops. I agree that day rate would be a more suitable payment option. What's the average day rate? Thanks again :)

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

You would be surprised at the number of jobs like this I do.its not rocket science to build up a few units and fix them to the Wall and save them selfs a couple of days labour .the last one I did the guy saved over £600 buy doing it this way and had exactly the same end result.

A tradesman would take over the job but if the units need levelling and then everything else onwards, you are unlikely to have saved any money at all.An expierienced kitchen fitter would have put your units together very quickly and this is all the time/expense you have saved.Unless you can find a cheap handyman then your cost will be similar to a tradesman starting from scratch.

It happens often. Really if every thing is there you would be looking at a max of 2 days. Put a add on hear in the joinery area, you do need a experienced person to cut and join the work tops in a corner.
