Worcester Combi Boiler - Pressure dropping to almost zero then climbing back to 1.5bar when in use
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.29 PM
Does anyone know if a service will remedy this issue or if it's considered a 'breakdown'? Both hot water and radiators are working fine and I don't see any leaks anyway around the boiler or any of the radiators.
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

The expansion vessel has either popped or needs re pressurising, this should be taken care of when a full service is carried out.

Check the overflow from the boiler, if u see water discharged then call a gas safe engineer, otherwise you could have a leak somewhere

If the pressure is dropping then going back up without you having to refill the system and your still getting hot water when the pressure gauge is below 0.5 bar you may have a faulty pressure gauge.
I don’t know how old your combi is but corrosion can cause this and give an incorrect reading.

Expansion vessel has lost calibration or popped and there is nothing to take up the expansion of the hot water.
It can be recalibrated with a bicycle pump while system pressure is at zero. Then re filled with water.
The pressure should then not fluctuate much.
