Metallic sounding popping noise from inside boiler?
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.29 PM
Anyone help? Gloworm boiler recently fitted making metallic popping noise when firing up and sometimes when not been in use for hours (when cold). Even in middle of night? Also pressure drops every week and needs topping up (no apparent leaks around radiators). Still under warranty should I just get them to come out?

Could be expansion tank or PRV. Gas engineer will know more.

I agree get them back, it is almost impossible to diagnose a fault without seeing it and not something I’m ever comfortable doing. By the brief description I suspect a faulty expansion vessel but this really should not be the case in a new boiler, I have also never, in thirty years heard the term metallic noise.
