Bent hinge on kitchen window

Ok the hinges need replacing the opener needs to be taken out the both hinges replaced then window refitted It’s a common job

Fairly simple job replacing a scissor hinge, the hinges are easy available on a popular auction page..... just make sure you get the same size , no you don't need a new window and sometimes bent hinges can be repaired but not if they are broken.. normally its a 10 to 15 minute job replacing scissor hinges, nothing else will need replacing , the hinges are simply unscrewed from the frame - the window removed- new hinges fitted and the window re fitted complete with new hinges --- sometimes they need adjusting on completion. if the window is large its a 2 man job (sometimes hinges are pop-riveted on if so will take a few more minutes to do)

It depends on what type of hinge there are hinges that only go 90 deg There are others that push out 100 mm to start with and after requires a button on the side of the outer frame to be pressed which allows the full turning of the sash ( these are fully revesables ) So both can be changed if you can find the maker There should be a name printed on the hinge

This is a easy fix really and happens often, the opener will need removing and hinges replacing as they come in a pack of 2 worth doing both at the same time. Once both hinges are changed reattach the opener an that's a job well done.

A pair of hinges will need to be supplied and fitted Whilst it’s simple enough job and will likely take less than half an hour.... it’s advisable to get a professional in as hinges (friction stays) come in different widths, stack heights and lengths. They commonly come in side opening sizes of 12” and 16” and top opening hinges of 8/10/12/16/20/24” The cost would be around £60/£90 most likely A new window is most definitely not required if this is the only issue.

Hi, the hinges (friction stays) are replaceable, you certainly don't need a new window or frame. They come in different widths, stack heights and styles (egress, restricted egress etc.). If you're unsure call a specialist in, it's a straightforward task, wont take long and you'll know you're getting the correct direct replacement.
