Patch on overboarded ceiling

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.28 PM

My electrician put hole for fan in garage conversion en suite in wrong place. He stuck the piece of plaster from new hole into the gap using a piece of wood for grounds. The ceiling had been overboarded except for the place where he put the second hole (a boiler flue had been there) so the drilled out plaster was only a single depth. The decorator filled this by using an offcut of plasterboard which he put in the gap using filler to stick it. It looks a neat job but I’m wondering if the filler will not have good adhesion and that it will fall out down the line. Should I get it redone or leave well alone? Any advice appreciated. Thanks

I’m sure if the piece of plasterboard was fixed securely and no movement around the hole it will be fine. Thanks

If there was a piece of wood fixed. Then the plaster board should have been screwed to that then filled, you might find the filler could shrink back, so it a case of watching for signs of that.
