Best way to cover gap between flooring and uPVC door lining
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.06 PM
I'm having laminate flooring in my kitchen which will have an expansion edge around all sides. This doesn't concern me in most places as the skirting / kitchen cabinets will cover it, but I have a 3m set of french doors which where I am struggling to come up with a plan to conceal the gap. uPVC trim doesn't fill me with confidence as I am concerned it will a) get kicked and come off, and b) the silicone will get filthy and need cleaning every week.

Depending on what type of floor you have meaning oak etc you could have a oak oak threshold made up to suit floor or any hard wood for that matter painted this would stand the time of traffic in and out of room,
you could mould this to suit any skirting or architrave aswell.
Hope this helps you

Bespoke wooden trim - angle ,scotia, flat,etc.. will be best. Carpenter can use nails if you don't wish silicon or glue.

If it’s laminate flooring you are putting down then you can use an insizo bar. There are several different edge types you can use with this bar. Using the squared edge butt up to the doors and you have a finished edge covers the laminate edge. Quick step manufacturers them and you can match them to most laminates.
