Leaking water supply for dishwasher
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.06 PM
We have moved into a house which we intend to install a dishwasher in. The previous owners left the water supply for the dishwasher in the disposal unit of the sink as there was a continuous trickle of water from it even though the water supply shut off valve is switched off. Is this normal or should I get it replaced before connecting to the dishwasher?

Hi there, sounds like it could be the blue or red lever at the end of the dishwasher connecting pipe (connecting the dishwasher to the main water supply), which might be just turning but without actually shutting off the water. Try tightening a quarter turn to see if that works. Otherwise you could have a faulty isolating valve if one has been fitted (i.e. the water supply shut off valve) which needs to be replaced. Hope that helps!

Just turn off the water supply and change it as they dont last for ever and dont cost very much
If you want to change the dish washer at any time you will have the same problem

I recommend replacing this valve because it may be old and not work properly. It may be dirty inside the body and this is also the reason for the malfunction. When you replace it, you'll be sure it is working properly and there is no leakage
