Plastikote Satin Wood Spray Paint Application/Layers/Curing

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.26 PM

I'm spray painting MDF. I have used Zinsser BIN and now want to use Plastikote Satin Wood Spray Paint. I will need to apply several thin layers, can I apply these without leaving to cure in between coats? How long should I wait between coats?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi there You need to leave it to dry between 30-50 minutes before applying another coat, i would recommend using very fine sand paper gently (best to use fine sanding block) after dried coats to give even smooth finish to avoid lumps building up and the paint grips onto MDF to avoid drips (don't sand after final coat) Many thanks and best of luck

Hi, Please allow at least 10-15 minutes between each coat, however if you are looking for a perfect finish, before the final coat I would recommend using a fine wet and dry sand paper to remove any pimples or dust particles etc. Please remember to wear appropriate personal protection.

You should wait for the paint to be touch dry (usually 2 hours for water based paint) then you can apply another coat of paint, keep repeating this process until you have the desired finish.
