Brand new boiler, intermittent hot water in kitchen

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.26 PM

Hi, got a new combi boiler, but got an issue with hot water in the kitchen. Two issues, if i turn it all the way to hot, it comes out steaming. If i add even a small amount of cold, it runs ice cold, i can't mix it. Secondly, after a few minutes of washing up in red hot, the tap runs ice cold, even if its turned all the way to hot. The boiler doesnt go off, it just looses hot water. Why is this?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

first of all sink mixers do not mix in the tap, they are bi flow hot and cold come out of the spout seperatley ,when you just have hot open combi boiler gets all the water to heat, when you start to open cold it is taking the water and starving the boiler, this is all a pressure and volume problem.

Surely an issue to be put back to the installer If the previous comment about pressure and flow is correct this should have been checked before a combi was installed to ensure this type of boiler was suitable ie if you have really low pressure mains supply a combi is not fit for purpose Refer back without delay to get installers comments

Hi, About your hot water in the kitchen could be few things like pipe work, Boiler setting. You mentioned that the boiler is new if that’s the case you need to contact gas engineer who commissioned the boiler because when commission you're supposed to check all hot water outlets flow l/min and temperature. I hope this helps Thanks
