I need to know what screws to use to hang a tv and an electric fire onto a wall that has insulation boards. The screws i got were too thick to fit through the holes of the brackets belonging to the items i want to hang

When I hang anything on to insulated plasterboards. Depending on the thickness of the insulation. I'd use a 4mm gauge 100mm long screw with brown rawplug and a metal spacer the depth of the face of the plaster to the brickwork.. Put level line on the wall with a spirt level hold your bracket on the line and mark the holes with a pencil. Drill the holes with a 7mm masonry sds drill bit right into the brickwork . But the raw plug in the hole and bush right through to the brickwork. You can use a screw and hammer to do this. Just back wind the screw when taking out. Now drill a 15mm hole in to each hole you have already drilled down to the brickwork. Insert 15mm copper pipe and mark in line with plaster. Cut and insert in to the hole. Repeat to other holes. This will stop the bracket or anything you're hanging from pulling through the plaster. Just screw it on. Job done.
Hope this helps

Firstly I would try to locate a stud behind the plasterboard to fix to as this will be the strongest method, you can sometimes do this by simply tapping the plaster and listen for a change in tone from a hollow sound to a thud, the thud is normally a stud but this sometimes doesnt work (be careful of any pipework or cables behind the wall, a socket or radiator underneath or above the area would be a warning). If you cannot locate a stud I would use a 'grip it' fixing which twist open so would be easier to use if the insulation is right against the back of the plasterboard, just make sure you use the right weight rating.

I’d use the Fischer fixings or chemical fixings right into the brickwork behind the insulated plasterboard for the strongest fix possible depending on the weight of the TV etc and after consulting the advice of the manufacturer.

Just use zif they will hold up to 100kgs I do a lot of work on new builds and not always possible to go into the inner block work through the dry lining if you would want to that is!.
You can easily open up any hole on supplied bracket to suit screws you want to use.
DM me for correct fittings to use without going in to any block work
