All plumbers / Slugs in the water supply!
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.46 PM
Dear Fellow Plumbers. I am asking for some geological feedback as to your finding any SLUGS living in water tanks or toilet cisterns etc. They look just like normal garden slugs in size but darker and stripy... can be mistaken as black mold around the inner edge of tank lids etc. I'm interested because apparently it's common in some areas and water authorities are trying to combat it with additives to the supply... allegedly. Anything in your area? Many thanks, Bob.

These Are Asian Slugs I think and there are yellow 1s grey 1s and some with stripes.
They are not dangerous but don't get there slim near your mouth.
Just fish them out into a plastic bag a dump them in the garden.
I see a lot of them here in Essex.
I also tell my customers not to Drink From the Hot tap as some of them can be in the 50 gal main water tank and to filter all there drinking water through a Brita water Filter.

Personally I have not come across this problem but I would recommend storage tanks should be up graded or replaced and abylaw 30 kit used [ insect screens In overflow] and seal the lid with mastic toilet cisterns should be upgraded to modern internal overflows [which use less water] and seal brick work this should stop any access to stored water in the property
