Toilet flush leaking back into bathroom through brickwork
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.46 PM
We have a leak coming back through the brickwork where the toilet flush pipe goes out the wall to the outside drain pipe. It is coming back in from the brickwork underneath the plastic pipe and not the pipe itself - does anyone know of a spray or paint on sealant that will fix this leak ? Thanks in advance

There are spray sealants out there that you can get to stop leaks but it's better to get a plumber in to check out the problem and give you a more permament solution to the leak.

Potentially the issue is just rain tracking back through the sound stack so if you are able to silicone around the pipe on the outside this could fix it. If it all seams well sealed then chances are the stack itself is leaking from a join so that would be a job for a plumber. Try the first option as chances are this is the problem and will be a cheap fix. All the best

In my opinion this needs to be looked at by a pro and not just potentially bodged with some silicone. The source of the problem needs to be identified before doing anything. If, like GB Framing and building services have said, it is just rain penetrating around the soil pipe then it is a simple fix however, if it is a joint on the pipe that is leaking, you really dont want to go caking this in silicone it needs to be checked and if needs be a new fitting fitted to prevent issues further in time such as mold growth etc due to harmful bacteria from your toilet waste!
For the sake of 5-10minutes finding the source of the problem it could save you a headache later on.
Hope this helps.
