Radiator making gurgling noise after being bled and reduced lockshield valve

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.28 PM

Gas boiler, water tank fed system from loft. Everytime i turn on my heating, one of the radiator in my flat is making a loud gurgling and rattling noise. I have bled all the radiators and only clear water comes out and have also tried to balance the system and reducing all the lockshield valve to only half a turn but the radiator is still making the noise everytime the heating is turned on and continuously in segments during the duration the heating is on. Any idea what the issue might be and will it be a quick job to fix or worth calling out an engineer (on the homecare policy so will only need to cover £60). Thanks all in advance!

Sounds like the pump is sucking in air. Typical if older systems. Probably due to sludge build up within the system. Reducing the lock shields will not do much apart from reduce the flow throughout the system. The pump might be set too fast

The first answer is correct, but also try this; Open all radiator valves fully, then turn off at one side only all radiators except the one gurgling and see if that cures the problem.
