Valley box gutter internal

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.28 PM

Hi My garage conversion & extension requires a valley between two pitched roofs. This means I will get a box gutter draining internally to take the rain water runoff. Is this a maintenance nightmare ie do valley box gutters fail often or are they hard to get right? The alternative is having a flat roof to avoid creating the valley. Any suggestions on which one is better option? Regards and thank you all for reading

If its in between 2 pitched roofs put a lead gully in with an outlet at the end thats would be the cheaper option.

Flat roof on top is the cheapest option as then it’s only two pitch roof to tile in and a bit of torch on felt and 4 verges to bed if you have a box gutter you have four pitches to tile 8 verges to bed 2 ridges to run and bed and a box gutter to do in either lead, rubber or fibreglass or torch on felt. The materials and labour for the flat roof is a lot less. There less work involved from a roofer point of view to not have a box gutter and just have two pitches and a flat roof I dunno what a carpenter would say is less work and easier for them though.

We would use a grp fibreglass golly system with a lead outlet on the end that would be the best way with a 25 year guarantee

I would recommend forming a valley between the 2 roofs then apply a Rubber compound for waterproofing.

I would suggest a lead gutter for durability, with an outlet through the wall into a hopper with a down pipe.
